Although sweeping up might seem like a bit of a laborious task its a common procedure for any DIY gardener and there are some easy ways to help improve your sweeping technique which can help with health and safety if you run a business or office and the premises serve the general public. Hence here are some tips.
Tip 1 – Holding a brush; there are many ways to hold a brush but by far the most productive way is to hold the bursh with two hands, position your hands one above the other and use the hand which you use the most at the top. This will ensure that if you are right handed then your right hand has the most control over the brush head and naturally, what you are sweeping up or away.
Tip 2 – Where to stand. Standing in front of what you are sweeping might be a good way to push the debris away from you but if you are sweeping into piles then standing next to or behind the debris should see you be able to remove the most amount of dirt. This way you can pull the debris into piles which can be removed later.
Tip 3 – Up or Away? Depending on what you are sweeping might denote if you sweep up the debris or if you sweep it away, some people simply push the dirt away and sweep it into a corner, but if you are wanting to remove the rubbish then you either need to get down and pick it up or use a shovel to sweep the dirt onto and the pick up the shovel to remove it. Using one hand on the shovel and one hand on the brush is the best way to do this. Then with your right hand hold the brush and your left the pan, you can then push or pull the dirt onto the pan.
Now that you know these three tips you should be alot quicker at sweeping up as well your area should be a little cleaner for using these pro techniques.
