I usually find that the restaurant chairs I most enjoy sitting at are not actual chairs, but booths. I typically choose booths in a secluded, private area because I feel more comfortable sitting there. When restaurants are arranging their layout, they should take into consideration that people don’t always like to be seated to tables too close to strangers. One of my favourite restaurants has a section for booths and a section for actual chairs, and I often see people opting for the booths. The only time people prefer sitting in chairs is in a business or formal meeting. Booths also have more cushion and are generally more comfortable.
As for tables, they are pretty much the same in all restaurants, with the exceptions of the ones that are too high or too low. Restaurants should also invest in more round shaped tables because I recall an experience where I hurt my arm on the edge of a square shaped table as I was trying to get up and leave. Once again square shaped tables are fine for business settings or meetings, but not for informal gatherings. Tables should have enough spaces in between them so as to not make customers feel uneasy about dining in such close proximity to a complete stranger. Another preference for tables is that they have a smooth surface, even the ones outdoors. As for cafes I prefer a mellow type of setting, seeing as I usually go there to study. Cafes should have a variety of different seating options. If one is going by themselves, a boothe would not be necessary. However if one is going with many friends, a booth is absolutely necessary. When I am by myself, I prefer to be seated in a corner in a simple chair and table. Another thing restaurants should consider when picking their furniture, is the theme of their restaurant. It would not be right to be sitting at an Italian restaurant with rustic furniture, but unfortunately it does happen all too often.
When I am eating at a restaurant, I want to get the whole feel and experience of the food that I am eating so they setting is a very important part. Some restaurants also have baby seats available for parents who have small children. These seats are very convenient because the parents don’t have to hold their child or children all throughout their meal. They seats should be steady enough to keep the child in place, but not too constricting. I see a lot of parents struggling at restaurants and having to decide whether to hold their baby or eat their meal, which is why more restaurants should have these chairs specifically for little children. It would make family outings much less chaotic. One thing restaurants should avoid is glass furniture because of how fragile it is and it requires a lot of cleaning. People like eating on clean surfaces, and with glass furniture, it would be difficult to constantly keep clean at all times.
