This summer is the perfect time to improve your landscape. A paver border around your landscape can provide the beauty that can make your house a home. My home is a 1950’s ranch style home. It is an all brick home. We took red paver bricks and created a border around our front landscape. When we first moved in, we had a group of four shrubs that went alont the front edge of our home.
My wife could not stand these bushes and had wanted to take them out for several years. We finally got around to taking the bushes out and putting down the border. The border was hard work, but worth it in the end. To put the bricks in the first thing you want to do is set the line for however you want your bricks to align. Then you will have to dig a trench to place the bricks. The trench does not have to be deep, maybe 6 inches deep. You will also need sand, and topsoil to fill in.
Once you get the trench made, you will need to put the bricks in the trench. You will then use the sand and topsoil to help you level to bricks to sensure that they are all level and look right. This will take some time but it will make for a much nicer end product. After you get the border done, it is time to add in whatevery you want. I like some nice landscape rock, but those of you with a tight budget may want to consider putting mulch down. Then its time to pick the plants.
Everyone has their own preference on plants so I wont know what kinds you would like. My wife is putting in some hydrangeas and a small flowering dogwood tree at the end of the house to our lot. This project took us probably 8 hours total. We had towork in small batches when our son would take a nap.
I think that this allowed us to spruce up the outside of our home and defintely added to our curb appeal. This will be a long lasting project that will look good for years to come.
