Check out this guide to making your own roofs out of overlapping plastic bottles. These overlapping bottle roofs are light weight and kind to the environment by means of reusing and recycling – also up cycling old plastic bottles into roofs provides a cheap and cheerful way of making a cover for all kinds of things like fire wood, crops or plants and even small animals or pets.
Step 1. Take a large plastic bottle and cut the top and bottom off it with a sharp knife. Then cut this section along the vertical forming two parts from one.
Step 2 . Take two sections of the bottle and flip one over, then staple the ends together to form a roman tile style roofing slate. NB/ you can also run some tape over along the staples to ensure to water leaks.
See Image.
Step 3 . Lay your roman tile style sections in the lengths you require for your roof, then cut to size to suit the platform or frame in which they shall seat.
Step 4. run a supporting beam or piece of wood/ garden cane over the leading edge of the roof so that water doesnt destabilise the roof when clearing.
Enjoy!
