One great way you can improve the quality of almost any room in your house is by reducing clutter. Simplifying the contents of your room will also simplify your life and put your mind at ease. You will have less to worry about and your room will look more attractive and much tidier. Although de-cluttering can be effective in any room of your home, it has the most effect in the most personal room, the bedroom. This is where we wake up in the morning, and go to sleep at night. It should be a comforting and clean environment where you can completely relax. With too much stuff or too much clutter you confuse the simple purpose of this room. Start by going through loose objects in your room that are lying about on tables, on the floor, or anywhere. Decide if you really need these objects.
Do you every use them? Are they truly meaningful? If not, get rid of them. If you decide it is absolutely necessary that you keep them, put them in some kind of storage or container, such as your desk drawer. Keeping these loose objects organized and contained in one place will increase the aesthetics of your room and ease your mind. After you have dealt with the small things, look to the big stuff, like pieces of furniture. Once again, decide what is really needed and being used, and get rid of what you don’t need. If a piece of furniture’s sole role is to store smaller objects, consider if you can consolidate its contents with another piece of furniture, and move one out of your room. Moving the position of furniture in your room can also be very helpful. Have a desk or shelf that fits nicely into a corner? Move it there. It will make the room look bigger if it isn’t sitting in the middle of the room or wall. Try not to clump big items of furniture together, but spread them out.
A small table next to your bed is OK, but you don’t want your main desk or a big bookshelf there. Spreading things out will also make your room look bigger and more spacious. When you have gotten rid of all you can, clean. A clean room is healthier and homelier. Follow these suggestions and you will improve the aesthetics of your home and create a space where you can feel at ease.
