Gutters and Fall-pipes are two areas of the home which, providing you can access are pretty easy to maintain and clean. If you are not strong on a ladder you might find this task a little daunting but for those who live in bungalows and low rooflined buildings the task is one which you can perform yourself with a few basic tools.
How to Clean your Gutters; a Step by Step approach.
First – you will need to gain access to the gutters. You can use a ladder but be sure that it is firmly secured before you start to work from it. You may need a bucket and a pair of gloves as well as a brush and a hosepipe or water source. A hosepipe would be better than a watering can as you will need to climb up and down the ladder to refill a watering can.
Secondly. Once you can access the gutters, simply use your hands to remove the bulk of the leafs and debris which are in the gutter, you can place this in a bucket or you can drop it to the ground to clear up later, but beware that the debris will be wet and so mostlikey splash when hitting the floor and cause more mess to be cleaned up.
Lastly. Once you have removed the debris, then use the hosepipe to wash down the gutters and the roofline leading into them. Make sure that the fall pipe from the roof to the ground is free flowing.
And there you have it, a quick guide on how to clean out your gutters and save yourself some money! Make sure you have the leaf and mulch debris for your compost!
